My Winter Outerwear Fashion

I'm the kind of person who prefers it when her coat, shoes, and purse match. I LOVE Guess coats. I had one before and this year on a recent trip to TJMax I saw this one and completely fell in love!

Its kind of dressy but casual at the same time. Its a military style which can button up to the collar. It cinches in at the waist and flares out at the bottom. Plus, it has this awesome ruffle thing going on in the front which makes it look really girly and cute! Its a dark grey color which I thought was perfect because I have been obsessed with black coats for so long. Change is good!

I picked up a nice grey leather shoulder bag an was on the look out for some really cool gloves and boots to go with it.

I found 2 really cute pairs of boots. One was a little more dressy and the other which matched with the coat and bag Perfectly!! The second pair (pictured below) ended up being one of my xmas gifts because I raved about them to a family member after the first time I saw them at Marshalls. Luckily the next time they went back they had them in my size :) Muchas Gracias!!

I am also wearing the awesome crochet hood and fingerless glove that I made! I love these!

They are really warm because of the heavy yarn I used and they look really cool.

Crochet Project - fingerless gloves & Circle scarf w/ hood

I bought a new coat by Guess which I absolutely love and when I went to get leather gloves that matched I was disappointed that none of them fit.

I learned how to crochet many years ago and was taught by my grandmother who I miss dearly, so I decided to make a pair myself.

So I went to Michaels which is usually way too overpriced and surprisingly they had the perfect yarn on sale! I got a few bundles and got to work!

For the Scarf/hood I started off with 103 chain stitches and slip stitched the ends together to make a round.

I single crocheted the entire first row. I then did doubles continuously until I was satisfied with the size. On 3 rows I ch3 every 6 dc so that there would be an alternating opening, creating an interesting and simple design.

When I was done with the base I gauged where I wanted the actual hood to start and end. I then dc in rows going across till it almost reached the top of my head, decreasing as needed so that it would fit right. I then closed the top by sticking 2 rows of dc kind of half way across so that when finished the hood wouldn't come to a funny looking point.

For the gloves I did the following:

2 rows of 22dc
Next row increase twice making 24dc total
ch2 & continue with 24dc
ch 2 & do 1 row of 18dc leaving a space for the thumb hole. The beginning and end of this row joined w slst
3 more rows of 18dc and finish off w 18 sc around rim & hide ends
1 row of dc in thumb hole and 1 row of sc w ends hidden to finish.
Lastly I added a few rows of dc along the bottom to make a cuff.

Thinking Out Loud Thursday - TOLT *12*

Thinking Out Loud

  • Its 2013!!!!!
  • I'm impatiently waiting for Feb to roll around so I can take these braids out. I have hella new growth.
  • I also need to trim down my acrylics. They are getting too long again and its hard to type.
  • I totally sent my Mom a late gag gift for xmas and her bday. It was hilarious!!!
  • I have been working on the earrings above as well as a few other things that will be posted on the Jewelry site soon! :)
  • I still havent gotten a chance to sit down and redo the braids on the side. hopefully I will get to that tonight or tomorrow.
  • My son slept on me and had my neck crooked the entire night... 5 Nights Ago!! My neck and back still hurt like crazy and its only getting worse.
  • The Sulfur oil mixed with cayenne leaves a faint smell in my hair that lingers for way too long IMO.
  • I might add more cayenne to the mix because I am not feeling any tingle. But then I never feel the tingle, unless there is some serious menthol involved.
  • I really need to take my nails off. Have had them on for almost 3 months! I keep missing letter when I type. lol
  • I love seeing my little cousins & fam growing up into awesome adults!
  • The babies made the best cupcakes the other day. A dozen lasted not even a half hour after we took them out of the oven!
  • I love baking and doing stuff like that with them. They have so much fun and are learning at the same time.
  • Everyone should know how to cook!

New Sulfur Oil Mix

I finally ran out of the first batch I bought so obviously it was time to make more. This time I thought I would do something a little different and interesting just to experiment.

I added Cayenne Pepper!!!!

I used 6oz EVOO and 2oz Castor oil for this and mixed in 1 teaspoon of sulfur and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne powder. Shook it up and we will see how this helps and if it makes much of a difference.

Why Cayenne, you ask?

Cayenne has been used successfully by others. It helps to increase blood flow to the scalp and in turn helps to boost the rate of growth.

Go ahead and plug this into Google search and you will find many articles on this. -> cayenne pepper scalp benefits

We already know the benefits of sulfur oils for the scalp. Right??

For me it keeps dandruff away completely! i get zero itching when  use this regularly and it helps to thicken my hair from the scalp and reduce my shedding

I am hoping that the two of them together along with everything else I am doing will help me to thicken my hair back up, eliminate my shedding, and hopefully I wont really have to chop off all my hair and start from scratch again. :)

I already have a ton of new growth and have been taking pics of the growth every week. I am going to redo the braids on the side and gauge from that the rate of growth and if there is any difference with the added  cayenne.

HHG!!!
